How to Study the Bible - Links and Resources

Posted by: Admin Ben   in How to Study the Bible

If you’ve been reading ArrowUp for a while now, then you’ve most likely seen my posts on how to study the Bible.  The first one, titled “How to Study the Bible - Part One - Individual Book Study“, gives you simple steps for studing individual books of the Bible.  The second, “How to Study the Bible - Part Two - Topical Study“, is a thorough description of how to study the Bible topically.

Apart from the articles I’ve written on the subject, there are many, many other websites and resources that you can read and use to learn how to study the Bible on your own.  Below, I’ve put together a list of just a few of these for you to look into.

A Guide to Bible Study

CrossWalk.com is the best place to go if you are looking for free, high-quality resources and articles on how to study the Bible.  This specific page links to their series of articles named “A Guide to Bible Study”.  It gives a comprehensive guide to how to study the Bible, and is invaluable to whoever wants to learn.

Bible Study Articles by Book

Another great page on CrossWalk.com has a list of articles about individual book studies.  It takes a certain book, say Esther, and gives you different “lessons” on it.  Each lesson gives you something to walk away with, and really helps you to understand the book.

Read Through the Bible in a Year

OneYearBible.com offers tons of very useful resources for reading through the Bible in a year.  It has the regular schedule of reading, in which you read from many different passages every day, and then it has the “chronological” version, where you read through the Bible in the order that the events happened.

Not only that, but it has forums where you can discuss your reading, a newsletter, and a commentary section where you can read the Matthew Henry Complete Commentary.

Our Daily Bread Devotions

Our Daily Bread is a free little booklet that you can sign up to receive every month in the mail.  It contains devotions for every day of the month, and since each devotion is written by a different person on a different verse, so you will always get a unique view on each discussed subject.

Spurgeon’s Daily Devotions

The famous devotions written by Charles H. Spurgeon provide great insight into the meaning of the Scriptures.  Each day you can read both his morning and evening devotions, as well as his “faith’s checkbook” devotions.

A Brief Bible Study Introduction

K-Love not only provides great online Christian radio, but it also has a brief introduction to how to study the Bible.  It has practical tips such as starting with prayer and using a notebook, and it also has solid study principles like “let scripture interpret scripture”.

Conclusion

I hope you can use the resources I listed above for your own studies, and that your faith will grow because of them.  If you have a resource that you use, feel free to let me know in the comments section, and I’ll add it to the list.
